Can AI Kill Portrait Photography?
Note – This was an email sent to our subscribers (buyers of our online courses) on Friday, 20th December 2024.
Hi there,
How are you doing this Friday afternoon?
If you’ve been following my emails for a long time, you would have seen that my stance on AI changed a lot in the last two years.
At first I was very dismissive of most AI tools, since I thought it would be like one of those fads which would vaporize into thin air in a matter of time, just like most do.
But I was quickly humbled.
Not only that, the humble pie served by the AI chef was quite delicious too, humbling me even more.
I knew one thing – AI WAS HERE TO STAY!
Not only did I take a liking to AI, all my courses started to focus on AI exclusively, starting with this Photoshop AI course.
I had to accept that photography wasn’t going to be the same any more.
But there was one hope – Portrait Photography.
AI still hadn’t figured how to solve issues in this intricate genre.
So I changed my stance to – “AI is good but only for genres which deal with inanimate objects like product photography.”
Not any more.
As I type this, I’m once again firmly seated in a comfy chair in the AI restaurant, waiting for the chef to prepare another of those delicious pies.
Yes, that’s right – AI is about to take over portraits too.
Don’t believe me?
Check out this latest video on my YouTube channel where I show you how even a FREE AI tool can help you turn a casual selfie into a professional headshot. Here’s the video:
Turn Selfie Into Pro Headshot Using FREE AI Tool
Yes, the results are not perfect but for a free tool, it isn’t bad at all. And just imagine, there are already paid tools out there. In fact I will be soon testing them out also.
There’s another AI tool out there, which can even help you change the lighting in your studio portraits, by using AI virtual lights. I made a short video on that also. You can watch it here:
Honestly, I still feel there’s a long way to go before AI can “kill” portrait photography.
But one thing is for sure – This time, I’m not betting against it.
P.S – I’ve started working on a brand new course which will show you the best AI photo editing tools out there which can help photographers in every possible way. I will keep you updated with its progress.
